Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid week runs from May 13-19th. Normally we do a door-to-door collection but some churches in the area have stopped doing this meaning that many areas in the town are not covered. If you would like to help please talk to Tim.

During Christian Aid week there will be envelopes at the church for anyone who would like to donate to this charity, or take some away for family and friends to fill.

Intercessions Workshop

This event will be run by the Diocese in St Augustine’s Community Hall and is open to all who currently lead intercessions, those who would like to lead intercessions and those who are interested in learning more.

Please contact Maggie if you are interested in attending so that we know the numbers for catering purposes.

Kiev Classic Accordion Duo

.

Our friends Igor and Oleksiy are back to entertain us again on June 15th, 7.30 pm, in the church. As usual they will play a variety of music on the accordion, from classical tunes to modern with folk music thrown in as well. This year’s programme includes works by Strauss, Faure, Bach, Bizet and some contemporary accordion composers as well as traditional dance music from the Ukraine and Russia.

This concert is free but donations will be taken to support those still affected by the Chernobyl disaster and the radiation fallout that occurred from this.

All are welcome so please come along and support this great cause.

Cake and Craft Sale

The Girls Group are running a cake and craft sale after the service (around 12.15 pm) to raise funds for a trip to visit the pandas at Edinburgh zoo.

There will be a selection of cakes and handcrafted goods available at reasonable prices. All the products on sale have been made by the girls and their families.

All are welcome so please come along and support the girls in their venture.

Country Trip

A trip to Inchmahone, the island on the Lake of Menteith, Aberfoyle, is planned for Sat May 5th. We will meet at the car park beside the pier where the ferry leaves for Inchmahone. After visiting the island, there will be a visit to a tea room before returning to Dumbarton.

This trip is suitable for those who cannot walk far, though you must be able to get in and out of a small ferry at the pier. There is a charge of £5 for the ferry. No dogs are allowed.

People who are interested in coming along should contact Tim Rhead. Please also let Tim know if you are able to provide transport for others.
